| Get your horse started and ridden on (used to traffic, walking through water, hacking in company/alone etc.) I can take your horse for 3 weeks (it includes the training and the keep for your horse and two free riding lessons for you and your newly trained horse at the end of the last week) Using my natural methods I will be riding your horse within the first couple of days and progressing to hacking out and teaching them all about life riding in the forest. This process is a lot quicker using natural methods, and the horses like it a lot better than normal methods. So it's ideal if you want your horse started in a gentle and understanding way. After your two free lessons, at the end of the three weeks, you will take home a well trained horse that you already know how to ride. Your horse will be staying in fabulous fields in the New Forest with on-site stables and arena and direct forest hacking. I live on site, so your horses will have round the clock care. This offer is on for a limited period of time so those of you that want to have your horse started this summer - get in quick as I only have space for 4 horses at one time. |

Having started well over 500 horses, I know that when you establish a natural relationship with your horse, it starts on the ground. When starting this way, backing your horse for the first time can take as little as 30 minutes.
If you want your horse to be backed a natural way, you can send your horse to me and I will take approximately 3 weeks - first teaching ground work, then ridden, then riding out with traffic etc. Compared to the normal BHS way of backing a horse, the natural method is much more simple, calm and easy for the horse to understand.
I experimented with backing my forest stallion, Oaky, when he was 5 years old. In a round pen, I did Join Up then rode him for the first time ever without even the use of a rope. It was just me and him in the round pen and I managed to ride him forwards and backwards and turning left and right and of course stop - all done bareback with no halter, bridle or even a rope, proving it can be done with natural techniques.
![]() | This is one of my students, the first time she ever sat on her horse, after an hour's work training the mare. She is a 5 year old full-blooded arabian mare and very lively. But, as you can see here, she was completely relaxed and good as gold for her first ever ride. Her owner had always dreamed of being the first one on her but thought it impossible because she was such a lively mare. In this picture, you can see how relaxed both the horse and owner are and they went on to have a fabulous riding relationship. |
